Before the warm weather slips away, we’re celebrating our summer superlatives. Here are the most loved notions, patterns, books, trinkets, and fabrics that defined a season of making.

Most Loved: Neon Neppy in Charcoal
I have a confession: Sometimes I bring products to the store just because I love them. That was certainly the case for this 100% cotton fabric with playful flecks of neon pink and green. Neutrals with a subtle detail strike that balance of “I’ll actually wear this” and “This will be a joy to make”. It turns out you all love it, too! As one of the first fabrics ever to sell out, Neon Neppy gets the most-loved spot. If it didn’t sell, I would just have to take it all home (how terrible 😉).

Most Useful: Bohin Folding Seam Ripper
The best-selling notion of the summer season was the humble seam ripper. Is it ironic that the very tool that undoes our sewing is the most useful thing to have around? This folding seam ripper by Bohin is loved for its sleek design and fun colors.
Most Loved: PigeonWishes Buttons
While these artisan buttons haven’t been around long, they've been an instant hit at the store. Just looking at the vivid colors inspires creativity, and no two buttons are the same! Adding these little beauties to a garment gives it an extra special detail. You may never be satisfied with a basic clear button again!
Patterns
Most Loved: Saturday Skirt Set
Friday Pattern Company tends to roll out one gorgeous pattern after the next. When this one came out, the internet was immediately enamored. This set embodies the versatility of coordinates with the romance of your favorite flowy dress. Store mannequin Cutrina donned this outfit in the Essex Linen light blue stripe for our grand opening, and it was a hit!
Most Versatile: Saguaro Set
Did someone say coordinated set? There’s a well-documented trend of Cutrina’s outfit selling out, but this summery set shines even without a sample. Perhaps it’s the comfy pants that can go from actual pajamas to a chic formal look depending on your fabric choice. Maybe it’s the floaty top that gives plenty of ventilation on ninety-degree days. Could it be the no-brainer way that coordinates make you look put-together instantly? Maybe it’s all the above! For those who picked this up, there’s no doubt you’ll be making a new version every year.

Best for Beginners: Sew it Yourself by Daisy Braid
It’s no wonder this joyful little book keeps selling out! Sew it Yourself is packed with projects ranging from the beloved, scrap-busting scrunchie to floaty dresses with lovely details. With highly giftable projects, this one will be useful as we start thinking about the holidays, as well. Beginners beware: Don’t pick this up unless you want to fall in love with sewing!
Most Loved: Ahead of the Curve by Jenny Rushmore
Author Jenny Rushmore is the founder behind the brand Cashmerette, and her book Ahead of the Curve dives into fitting solutions for curvy figures with several classic patterns. Many of us started sewing for the sole purpose of having beautiful clothing that fits our bodies, so it’s easy to see why this detailed book has been a best-seller.
Trinkets
Most Loved – Possum Hair Clips
As the first item I ever sold, the possum hair clip from The Peach Fuzz holds a special place in my heart, and it's no surprise that it’s continued to hold the most-loved spot. Whether you get the Momma or the Baby, these hair clips are fun and full of personality. Those who get it get it.
Most Laughs – “You Can’t Buy This” Labels
Between “You Can’t Buy This” and “Made with Love and Swear Words”, the labels from Kylie and The Machine were in a close race for first place. In the end, the winner reminds us that what we do is truly custom and one-of-a-kind. Wear it with pride!
The end of summer marks three months since A Cut Above Fabric opened its doors. It has been so amazing meeting customers and seeing what you’re drawn to.
