Our Story
A Cut Above Fabric was established to address an unmet need within our community. When Omaha’s last big box craft store closed its doors, sewists and fabric enthusiasts found themselves without a dedicated space to explore materials in person. The ability to touch fabric, assess its weight, and examine its true color before starting a project was suddenly lost.
This gap was keenly felt by our founder, Mariena Busey, who experienced this challenge firsthand. Determined to offer a solution, she envisioned a space that would be more than just a retail shop. A Cut Above Fabric was created as a welcoming community hub—a store that feels like “our” store, where crafters immediately sense they belong and are among friends.
